The overall goal of dance therapy is the integration of the physical, emotional and
cognitive processes of the individual into a self-guided way of life.
Specific goals are:
- developing body perception as well as a realistic body image, fundamental to an adequate experience of the self and others
- broadening the movement repertoire in the sense of ego-development
- working through strong emotional experiences
- working on intrapsychic conflicts and structural deficiencies
- supporting authentic movement, self-guided expression and the integrationof the unconscious
- acquiring new patterns of relationship and action competence
- fulfilling and integrating individual needs and social competence
